March 20 - Season Opener
Houston Roller Derby has been training diligently to prepare for its fifth season, which will officially start March 20 with the league’s season opener bout. After more than 20 skaters retired at the end of the 2009 season, HRD has recruited and trained 21 talented rookies to fill its ranks. Don’t miss your chance to check out this season’s fresh meat in their official season debut – buy your tickets early! In addition, HRD has changed its bout format so that each game will be played straight through to its completion, as opposed to alternating the first and second halves of both games. The new format will keep the adrenaline thrill at its maximum level as you follow your favorite team’s game directly from start to finish! The bout will start at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. at Kick’s, 611 N. Shepherd in the Heights neighborhood of Houston. Tickets cost $12 in advance or $16 at the door.
